04/11/2011 - Dark Minimal Tech Whatever

Dark House, Tech House, Minimal Techno, whatever you want to call it, it's all the same -- House that isn't funky, and is dark, brooding, and introspective.  And that means this stuff is the best kind of house out there.  None of that funky, happy, soulful feel here.  But it still has those damned clap machines.

Playlist:
1. Pandora's Box [Echo Vacio]
2. Octagonal [Luciano]
3. H1N1 (Original Mix) [Alexander Fog]
4. Dreamcatcher
5. No Time Soon [Mark Broom and James Ruskin]
6. I Love Broccoli [Anorak]
7. Darkside of Miami (Original Mix) [Gennaro Mastrantonio]
8. Snow White (Original Mix) [Pascal Roeder]

The archived show can be found on WMBR's Website, as usual.

And for those of you that actually read this, here's another track for you -- Stop Show by Totoproto.

03/28/2011 - Psytrance

Tonight I have another set of psytrance, but this time some much lesser-known artists than what I played on my first show.  Rather than classic Goa/Psy like Astral Projection, Astrix, and Juno Reactor, I've got some Wizzy Noise, X-Team, and Deedrah prepared for the show.

Playlist:
1. Dorset Perception (Total Eclipse Remix) [Shpongle]
2. Nexus [Deedrah]
3. Avatar [Argon Sphere]
4. Light (Silver Sun Remix) [Freaked Frequency]
5. Panic Oscillation [Wizzy Noise]
6. Trance, Guns, & Dance [X-Team]
7. Saeed [Infected Mushroom]
8. Breathing Place [Vibrasphere]

We ran out of time for that last track, so I promised to post it on the site.  It was a really nice cool-down track after a few tracks of some full-on psytrance; it definitely tends more towards psy-ambient than psytrance proper.

The archived show can be found at wmbr.org, as always.

03/21/2011 - Acid Trance

Tonight's menu consists of nothing but acid trance, brought to you straight from the 90s.  For those of you listening to the stream, there were several issues with the mic, which explains any large gaps of silence in the recording.

Playlist:
1. Age of Love [Age of Love]
2. Acperience 1 [Hardfloor]
3. Two Full Moons and a Trout [Union Jack]
4. Magic Cubes [Cosmic Baby]
5. Octopus [Art of Trance]
6. Misconduct [Phobia]
7. The Weeping Waste [Renegade Legion]
8. Roar [Hardfloor]

The archived show can be found on wmbr's website as always, or by clicking this link.

I'm really on a bit of a Hardfloor fix, so you get some more Hardfloor as your bonus track:

03/14/2011 - Deep Dark House

This week I've brought some dark house (also known as deep house, sometimes deep dark house) for the show.  It's like house, but better -- it steals some of the moody monotony and dark ominous sounds from trance and techno.  But with clap machines!  No, that doesn't make it progressive.  No, I don't care that John Digweed thinks its progressive.  It's deep 'n dark.

Playlist:
1. We Become [Jason Knight]
2. The Legacy [Hypnotic Duo]
3. Dyslected [Mastino]
4. Dark Side [D-Slide & Doxx]
5. Metrobot [Blufeld]
6. Helios [Loquai]
7. Lonely Planet [Pollon]

The archived show can be found on WMBR's website as always -- the direct link is here.

As always, here's a couple of bonus tracks that didn't make it onto the show tonight:

Autumnal Logo [Hypnotic Duo]

I Have Put Out The Light [James Holden]

03/07/2011 - Liquid Drum 'n Bass

This week I've decided to bring you an hour of Liquid Drum and Bass -- Drum and Bass that's been flavored with more synth, vocal samplers, and an overall calmer, more ambient mood.

1. Stay Forever [Blame]
2. Empty Streets [Cyantific]
3. No Words [Logistics]
4. Spiral [Pendulum]
5. Dreams Come True [Bachelors of Science]
6. Beautiful Lies [B Complex]
7. Hear Me Scream [Muffler]
8. Paint It Black [Sigma]
9. Archive [Total Science]

02/28/2011 - First Show and Psytrance

For my first show, I chose my favorite flavor of electronic music -- trance.  And not just trance, but the best kind of trance -- Psytrance (and also Goa trance if you're going to be picky about it]!

Playlist:
1. Do You Believe? [X-Dream]
2. Teleport [Man With No Name]
3. Solid Electronics [Astral Projection]
4. Psycho Acoustics [Electric Universe]
5. Laughing Gas [Juno Reactor]
6. Poison [Astrix]
7. Rain [California Sunshine]

The archived show can be found here.

I had planned to play Crystal [Blue Planet Corporation] if I had time, but it wasn't going to happen.  So, I present you the track here as a web-only bonus track!

If there's any flavor of electronic music you'd like to hear during the show next week, shoot me an e-mail at vibrations@mit.edu, and I'll see what I can pull together for the next show.  Also feel free to e-mail me for general comments, more information about the music you hear on my show, or anything else related to electronic dance music!
